How lessons work here

Most of the hour is spent speaking Spanish. Your tutor keeps the conversation going and tells you what to fix while the sentence is still in the air.

  • You talk most of the hour

A tutor keeps the conversation moving and corrects as you go, so you are speaking from the first ten minutes.

  • Clubs stay small

The conversation club is $20 a session and runs in a group, so everyone gets time to answer and to argue.

  • In person or on Zoom

Meet at a table in San Antonio, or join from your kitchen. Same tutor, same fifty minutes.

  • A free placement chat first

Twenty minutes with a tutor to find your level and the right starting point. Book it through our scheduling page.

Habla began with one tutor and a kitchen table

Lucia Torres grew up in Monterrey and moved to San Antonio with a master's in applied linguistics. She still teaches every week, and four tutors teach alongside her.

Every hour is planned for one person

Tell your tutor what you need Spanish for, whether that is a hospital shift, a sales call, an AP exam or a weekend in Mexico City, and the hour gets built around it.

Lessons move at the speed you speak

Bring the situation you want to handle in Spanish and we will rehearse it until it stops being frightening. Grammar arrives when it helps you say the thing.

A goal for the hour

Every lesson has one thing you should be able to do by the time you leave the table.

Your own material

Shift handovers, sales calls, school homework. We work from what you actually have to deal with.

Student stories

Progress you can hear

I could order lunch in Spanish by my second month. Now I take the clinic's Spanish-speaking patients on my own.

We rehearsed my sales calls before every trip. My accent is still mine, but people understand me now.

Practice at home

Four things to do between lessons

Someone watching a Spanish-language programme on a laptop and taking notes

Listening

Watch something you already know the story of

Ten minutes a day, with the subtitles in Spanish, is enough to hear how a sentence really lands.

Handwritten Spanish vocabulary cards on a desk

Vocabulary

Write ten cards, use three of them

Ten words you met this week. Say three of them out loud before your next lesson and they will stay.

A customer ordering food in Spanish at a taco counter

Real life

Order in Spanish once a week

The taqueria on the corner counts. Short, low-stakes conversations are where the language sticks.

Two people chatting in Spanish over coffee at a table

Practice

Find someone to talk to

A colleague, a neighbour, a friend's abuela. An hour outside the lesson is worth two inside it.

The placement chat is free and takes twenty minutes

You talk to a tutor, you find out where your Spanish is now, and you leave with a plan for the lessons that follow. Book it through our scheduling page.
